To promote and support the growing aspiring Latino professional, we’ve started the Somos El Futuro scholarship for immigrant youth and Dreamers. Our Mission: “Amplifying the power of Latinos through professional and civic engagement.”

Somos El Futuro Scholarship is open NOW through June 15, 2024 at 11:59 PM.

 

Eligibility & Requirements

Eligibility:
● Applicants must be enrolled at one of the following institutions for the 2024-2025 school year:

Bellevue University, Metropolitan Community College, or University of Nebraska at Omaha.
● Special consideration will be given to students not eligible for FAFSA, needing financial aid, DACA students, and identifying as Latino/Immigrant.
● Minimum weighted Cumulative GPA of 2.5

Requirements:
● Completed application and turn it in by Saturday, June 15th, 2024 at 11:59pm.
● Recommendations - Have one person support your application (School Administrator, Teacher, Counselor, or Bilingual Liaison) by submitting a recommendation here.
● Applicants must participate in MYLPA’s mentorship program upon award receipt and answer one MYLPA Scholar Update questionnaire per semester during the award year (2024-2025).
● Applicants must attend MYLPA’s Award Luncheon on September 30th, 2024 (verify date), in order to receive the scholarship award (exceptions may be made).

2021-2022 Scholars

  • Tifani Rosales

    Tifani, 19, is enrolled at Metropolitan Community College and is planning to major in Professional Health Studies - Paramedicine. In her free time, Tifani loves to enjoy food!

  • Graciela Fuertes de Arcos

    Graciela, 20, is enrolled at UNO and is planning to major in Criminology and Criminal Justice, with a minor in Chicano Latino Studies. In her free time, Graciela is a mother to a 6-month-old baby girl.

  • Jorge Rivera

    Jorge, 18, is enrolled at Metropolitan Community College planning on majoring in Liberal Arts/General Studies. In his free time, Jorge loves to power lift!

  • Blanca Ostorga

    Blanca is enrolled at Bellevue University in the Master of Science in Cybersecurity program. Blanca is 32 and a Guatemalan native, who volunteers as a girls soccer coach for both U6 and high school.
